The aim of this report is to outline the results of a survey which was carried out to find out the reason why people decide to learn a foreign language. Fifeteen hundret people aged between fifeteen and sixty were questioned. People from cities, towns and villigies of all occupations took part in the survey.
Fifty-five per cent of those who decided to learn foreign language hope to get a better job. It is always of adventage to name one or two foreign languages in one's CV. Many foreign companys making bussines in Poland and many Polish companys making bussines abroad, perspective workers demand know at least one foreign language. Tweenty-nine per cent of the people questioned told us that they would learn foreign language it they wanted to go abroad. The rest people surveyed decide to learn a foreign language, because they want to watch films and other programs on TV and read newspapers and magazines in original.
To some it up, in most cases strictly practical reasons decision to learn foreign languages.
