What are the advantage and disadvantage of being a collector and having collection?

Being a collector is popular in many countries. People collecting for example dolls, coaches and buses, royal memorabilia, things which are connected with Star Wars and many others things. But sometimes collecting became a way of live or remain just a strange hobby. However being a collector has some advantage and disadvantage.
In my opinion there are certainly some good things about collecting. Firstly people can collecting things from subject which they really interesting in, like Margaret Tyler. She has been collecting royal memorabilia. She concerns live the Royal Family and likes collecting all things connected with them.
What’s, more if someone was a collector, they could show off their collection other people and sometimes swap. Andrea Levitt, who has another apartment to her collection of dolls and she shows them other people.
On the other hand, collecting things does have some disadvantage. For example people could spend lots of money for baying new pieces to their collection.
Collection also could occupy huge area, like in Andrea Levitt’s flat, where she has dolls in every room.
Finally, being collectors’ takes lots of time, collector must look for new pieces to his collection, meet and swap with another collectors, etc. Jeff Parker was collecting things connected with Star Wars, but when he started working for a bank on Wall Street, he hasn’t the time for collecting.
To sum up, some people like have such hobby like collecting, nevertheless that it have some big disadvantage, like spend money for new pieces, take time and area to collection.
So, in my opinion, despite there being some positive aspects of being collectors, I think it is important not to spend too much money on them and collecting things as soon as we like it, do it only for pleasure.
