Michael Joseph Jackson was born on 29th August 1958. He grew up in Gary, Indiana (an industrial suburb of Chicago, Illinois). He is the son of Joseph Walter and Katherine Esther. He is the seventh of nine children. He debuted on the professional music scene at the age 11 as a member of The Jackson 5 and began a solo career in 1971 while still a member of the group.
