Hieronim Bosch, properly Hieronymus Jeroen van Akon was born circa 1450 in s'- Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands. His output is characterized by complex symbolism regarding, in a lot of cases, sins and human's imperfection. Through own intricacy Bosch's art isn't clear for receivers.
Hieronim derived from a family of Flemish painters. He was a popular painter, he got commissions from abroad. In 1488 he joined conservative, religious group. He created for Catholic Church as well as for a sect called ''Free spirit'' - therefore symbolism of his paintings gets at Judaic and magic sings. Bosch painted a few triptychs. The most famous is ''The Garden of Earthly Delights''. He was also the author of single paintings of equally amazing subject, for example ''Treatment stupidity''.
Bosch never dated his paintings and may have singed only some of them. Philip II of Spain acquired many of Bosch's paintings after the painter's death, as a result, the Prado Museum in Madrid now owns several of his works, including ''The Garden of Earthly Delights''.
Bosch's paintins constitued inspiration for 20th century surrealists. Bosch died on 9 August 1516 in s'Hertogenbosch.
