Culture – a vital part of a nation existence

According to the dictionary culture is a particular society or civilization especially considered in relation to its beliefs, way of life or art. It’s truth that it’s a vital part of a nation existence. We can experience that especially now, in the age of globalism. For many people globalism means renunciation of a culture. They claim that many customs penetrate from country to country, but - paradoxically - it rather makes some local traditions stronger.
When all borders will be carried, when English will become a language of the whole World, when we will use the same currency in all countries of Europe and we will call our self the citizen of the Europe or the World there will be something that will still makes us different than people in other countries. Culture define us as a citizen of the country. It seems to be obvious that diversity is more interesting than sameness. That’s why European Union foster traditions of various nations and regional food specialties. Moreover it finances projects that may promote local culture. Unfortunately there are still a lot of people, who want to built our country using as a prototype United States. They don’t find nothing interesting in so called “our backyard”.
Attachment to the culture means attachment to the nationality and the country. The history has shown how strong these feelings can be. When Poland didn’t exist on a map, it exist in hearts of Poles. Even germanization or russification didn’t manage to kill Polish culture. It’s survival helps in recapture the independence of Poland.
There is a problem with the influence of American culture on other countries. It’s probably already effected on ours, but I think that this small influence doesn’t play a big role, because it’s unavoidable sign of nowadays. I hope that we won’t forgot that not a currency, not a place of living or language that we are constrained to use define our nationality but culture and tradition. That makes us original, one of a kind.
