My greatest authority is Agatha Christie. She was born on September 15, 1890 in Torquay, and died on January 12, 1976 in Wallingford. She was the most famous writer of crime novels and the best-selling author of all time. Over one billion copies of her books were published in English and another billion copies were translated into 45 foreign languages.

I began to read detective stories and became interested in the author at the age of 13. I like Agatha Christie?s books, because they are very realistic, they concern matters of everyday life and stories which can touch each of us. I am also pleased that the plot keeps the reader in suspense until the final page and the author lets readers to solve the riddle. Christie?s books are often connected with themselves e.g. they have the same heroes.

Agatha Christie is my authority not only on account of the books she wrote but also because of the fact that in spite of her hard life she never lost her optimism. She was in an unhappy marriage because her husband was an alcoholic. During World War I she worked as a hospital dispenser. In 1926 she went missing for 11 days; she probably suffered a nervous breakdown. In 1971 she received the Order of the British Empire.
