‘All the president’s men’ is a movie directed by Alan J. Pakula in 1976. It based on Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward book. Both men are journalist of The Washington Post. They investigated Richard Nixon and his crew. As a result of their publications Nixon resigned the Office of President. This film show us the story of Watergate. We can see perfect political-thriller with great actors: Dustin Hoffman and Robert Redford.
The plot starts when five men go into Watergate (an office complex) and try to install wire-tapping in Nixon opponent’s room. They are catched and have prison sentence. But nobody connect it with president. In The Washington Post young journalist Bob Woodward (Redford) try to write an article about it. Bernstein (Hoffman) helps him. They discover more and more facts and write controversial articles. They are sure about Nixon’s guilt but have problems with sources. They use illegal and not ethical methods to find out the truth. After long investigation they publish final article. White House denies but after few months President Nixon resigned.
This film show us methods and style of working in American redactions. It is hard and brutal – but finally the world can know the truth. This film has big influence on me, because I am going to be a journalist. Moreover, it is a good film – with great actors and plot. After seeing this movie you must see journalist’ work different – it is a really neccesary job.
I strongly recommend this film because of all its advantages. Another good side is the scientific aspect – it is also a good and nice history lesson.
