Most people live in the world of fantasy created by excellent writers. “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” is one of many superb works, written by J.G. Verne known as the grandfather of science fiction.
J.G. Verne was born on February 8, 1828, in Nantes, France. In 1847 Jules was sent to study law in Paris. However, he wasn’t going to continue it and he made money by selling his stories. He travelled around the world. His passion was sailing and writing. He wrote a lot of stories. His best known books are: “Five weeks in a Balloon”, “A Journey to the Centre of The Earth”, “Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea”, “Around the World in Eighty Days”, “From Earth to the Moon”, etc.
In 1857 Jules Verne married Honorine de Viane and they had one child – Michael. In 1871 Mr and Mrs Verne moved to Amiens. They used to spend holidays sailing and making long cruises on the Mediterranean.
Sir J. Verne was a very famous writer. He was a pioneer of science – fiction and adventure books. Jules Verne died on March 24, 1905 in Amiens. France and all the world plunged in mourning.
