Is it necessary to speak a foreign language?

Nowadays foreign languages are an obligatory subject in many public and private schools. Students are forced to learb them and it has to be stated that it is a very good solution because foreign languages are crucial to communicate and it is necessary to speak a foreign language.
The first argument supporting the thesis above is the fact that one must learn foreign languages to find a good job. It is not true tha only people on high job positions need to speak foreign languages but also people on lover job positions need to know at least one of the foreign languages for example charwoman in the "Qubus" hotel.
What is more one should bear in mind that foreign languages surround us, they are everywhere for example in songs which we do not understand if we do not speak in this language. That is why one should learn foreing languages to understand what foreigners say.
Apart from the arguments mentioned above one should take into consideration the fact that for example English is a 'lingua franca' and many people can speak this language. When we are going on a holiday we can use our knowlage to communicate with anothers.
Despite the issues mentioned above one has state clearly that learning foreign languages is expensive and not everybody can afford it.
As far as I am concerned, it is my belief that learninf foreign languages is very useful an I myself am a competent speaker of my mother tongue as well as the English language.
