„Fall”

„Fall” isn’t a very outstanding film. It tries to catch all of Nazis’ evil, but I think that Hitlers’ phenomenon is too hard to show for creators of this film.
German actor – Bruno Ganz is the most important person in “Fall”. He tries to be perfectly similar to Adolf Hitler. Because of that we can see Fuehrer like poor, old and alienated man. What is worst while I was watching “Fall” I’ve felt a bit of compassion for him ! Tragedy of war and millions of people is only background for tragedy of Hitler. I’ve got impression that it tries to decrease evil of war.
Last days of Fuehrer and Nazi prominents are showed with big precision. Those days in bunker in the center of Berlin are effective, but without any vision. Without this vision events showed in “Fall” are effective, but without any sense.
Director had used point of view of Traudl Junge – Hitlers’ secretary. And I think it was mistake. She was a person, who only could see those events but she couldn’t change anything. What is more this role in “Fall” was too hard for young actress Alexandra Maria Lara.
We can say that all of Nazi prominents are quite funny. I think that only Julianne Khler (Eva Braun) is really worth seeing. Unfortunately we can’t feel apocalyptic atmosphere of dying Berlin. All of those pathetic conversations in the bunker are quite boring.
“Fall” don’t try to compare Nazis and their victims. It shows possessed nation. But it didn’t asked about reasons of this possession. This film is photocopy of Hitlers’ last days, but without any deeper reflection.
