Viktor Navorski arrives from Krakozhia at an airport in New York. He wants to get an autograph from his dead father’s idol, Jazzman. Viktor keeps all jazzmen’s autographs without this one in a small tin. Unfortunately while Navorski was on a plane, his native land became a revolution. Krakozhia doesn’t exist so he isn’t a denizen of any country. Viktor can’t come to the USA, nor come back to Krakozhia. He has to stay at the airport. Unfortunately he doesn’t know English, so he doesn’t understand anyone. He encounters many funny situations. Navorski is a great student and he learns foreign language from books very fast. Viktor meets a stewardess and he falls in love with her. There are many laughable situations during the film. At the end Viktor makes friends with the stewardess and gets the autograph he was looking for.
