The celebration of Easter is preceded by Holy Week, which begins with Palm Sunday- the day when Jesus rode into Jerusalem and people greeted Him with palm branches. The Holy Thursday is the day witch commemorates the Last supper. The Good Friday commemorates the death on cross of Jesus. The next day is Holy Saturday, the day when Christ lay in the tomb. On this day people prepare the basket which contains coloured eggs, bread, cake, salt, pepper, butter, sausage, ham, horseradish, and sugar lamb. Next, they go to the church and there priest bless the basket.

Than comes Easter Sunday, the day of Christ Resurrection. The family meets together and eats holy breakfast. Each member of household receives a piece of the Blessing Basket. A piece of egg is an accessory in the good wishes we extend to each other at Easter. Cakes like ‘mazurek’ and ‘baby’ are very important ingredients of Easter. Then people go to the church to the Easter mass. In this day everyone celebrate together, visit friends and family.

On Easter Monday there is a very ancient Easter tradition called ‘Śmigus Dyngus’. It is custom of pouring water on one another. On that day everyone is wet. People splash each other with water or perfume as this is considered to bring good health to all.
I like Easter in Poland very much. It is funny and nice time.
