AMERICAN CULTURE HAS HAD A VERY NEGATIVE GLOBAL IMPACT AS IT ENCOURAGES IMMORALITY AND DISRESPECT FOR THOSE IN AUTHORITY.

Poland year 2000, two teenagers killed their friend because they had seen a scene of murder in an American film and they wanted to feel like real killers. Cruel reality has made such behavior ordinary and non-shocking. The greatest part of everyday evil comes from American culture. Being violent, pretending to be somebody else and rebelling against authorities are negative impacts which American culture has had on young Polish people.

To start with, American culture involves violence and leads to committing crimes. Violence is wildly shown in mass-produced movies, TV programs and music. While switching through American TV channels, practically the only scenes to be found are fighting and beating. Also very likely to be heard, is vulgar speech. Film-language is filled with swear-words. Not to mention the fact that statistics show that the crime rate in the U.S has been increasing and as a consequence violence is much more probable to involve youths. If crime is so ubiquitous it is difficult to be out of its striking-distance.

In addition, teenagers follow American authorities who are rather negative. Imitation leads to losing one’s own personality. Simply if you try to be somebody else you are not yourself and in my opinion, it can be called cheating yourself. Besides these, American authorities that youths follow are artificial and thus, they are perceived in a negative light. Movie stars and singers are just creations of Hollywood’s great machine and many young people take seriously the way they act. Unfortunately youth do not realize how dangerous it can be. Great part of American show business people are not typify because very often they are drug addicts, alcoholics and that is why they are not worthy following. Pretending to be somebody else means you are not a valuable person anymore because you follow an unrealistic model.
Furthermore, American culture encourages rebellion against authorities. America has brought a false meaning of freedom to our lives that even could be called “sick”. For example, it is possible to have a driving-license at the age of 16 but it is impossible to have a beer. In a word, opportunity to have a car crash and kill a person is less harmful than being drunk what is ridiculous in my opinion. American culture popularizes tolerating almost everything and rebelling against everything that goes against your grain and rebelling against everybody who does not agree with you. Americans tolerate many behaviors which in Poland would never be accepted. Perfect examples are American courts full of feverish people with trivial cases. Those are improper behaviors because some limits have to be complied.
As I previously stated, American culture has undoubtedly had a negative impact on young people. It causes violence, it encourages youths to follow negative authorities and to rebel against them. In my opinion, it is more harmful than profitable. Our morality can be negatively influenced because of the workings of American culture.
