Despite the great development in technology, computers and the media, many people still enjoy the simple act of reading books. It is difficult to say which books are the most popular, though. That would depend on many things: trends in culture, world events, popularity of authors and people’s likes and dislikes. One thing is certain, we don’t like reading. Why? Because we are forced to read them!
I personally like reading all kinds of books: romantic, psychological, mystery, historical and adventure novels. It all depends on my mood. Sometimes I feel like “getting away” from everything so I pick up a Harlequin romance and enter the world of fantasy. When I am in a good mood I enjoy reading mysteries. I really get into them! When I feel angry, then there comes turn to horror and revenge. This is why I think it is difficult to say which books are the most “popular”. That all depends on whom you ask. I must admit that my most favourite, and many people would agree with me, books to read are autobiographical. There is truly nothing than that. Reading about other people’s lives not only can inspire us but can also help us during our most difficult times. It helps to see in great detail that other people had their “ups and downs”, and how they handled with things and moved on, or didn’t move on. You can really learn something about life itself and people by reading autobiographies. This is why they fascinate me and always will.

Now that we’re being honest I will let you in on my little secret. There is one type of book that I hate to read, in fact, I won’t even bother to pick it up. It’s science fiction. I can’t tell you why, I just do. There is just something about this type of books! On the other hand, I’m a minority about this because most people love science fiction. So there you go, as I mentioned before, it all depends on whom you ask!
Books have always been popular with people and I think they always will be. If someone asked me to recommend a book I would tell to him or her: “Find a subject or topic you like and read about it!” Books are as varied as people themselves, and that old saying is true, you can’t judge a book by its cover. Find out what it’s all about first, then decide.

Everybody has their favourite book. We remember some books all our life.
My favourite book is “Anne of Green Gables”. Lucy Montgomery, a Canadian writer, wrote it.
The heroine of the book is Anne, a girl who is an orphan and comes to live with a family of farmers.
She is a very sensitive girl and some of her adventures make me laugh and sometimes make me cry. I have read that book many times, as well as others such as: “Anne of Avonlea”, “Anne of the Island”, etc.
