SUBJECT: THE LOCAL TRANSPORT SITUATION IN KRASNYSTAW

Krasnystaw is a small town in the east of Poland. The aim of this report is to examine the transport situation in our town.
In the town there is a bus service and a train station. The buses are old, dirty and stinky but they are cheap. There is a discount for students. The trains are expensive and there isn’t a frequent service. You can go only for a long distance from the town. There isn’t a service between town areas. In trains there are also thieves from Ukraine. So travelling by train is quite dangerous. You can’t go to the school by train, but buses are frequently and there are “Gimbuses” – a kind of buses that goes directly to the school.

The traffic isn’t heavy in Krasnystaw. Only about 3 p.m. there are some traffic jams because many people go back from work and school.
There is a bypass in the southeast of the town. On this street the traffic is heavy. Cars go from Lublin to Zamość. It’s close to the polish border. Many people go to Ukraine. Big roads are quite good, but the roads to small villages near Krasnystaw are very bad.
There are only a few car parks in the center, but there is a new car park with 18 park places near the bus station.
In Krasnystaw there aren’t any traffic lights, so there are many accidents and traffic jams. On the other hand there are many zebra crossings in the center of the town. There is a one big and dangerous crossroad in Rońsko. There were many accidents because there aren’t traffic lights and cars go too fast.

There is a bicycle track, which goes from the swimming pool through Krakowskie Przedmieście, Tarnowiec forest back to the swimming pool. On this track there is a beautiful view. However cars go too fast on this track.
There is a new roundabout near the train station. It reduces the traffic jams. On the river Wieprz there are only two bridges. It’s too small if you want to go fast to the east side of the town.

To sum up the city council need to decide to build more traffic lights, give speed limit on the bypass, build more roundabouts, and reduce the traffic on the bicycle track.
